The Salad Anywhere Kit

The core of a healthy diet centers on the daily salad, usually for lunch.  How often though, I find myself unprepared in the middle of a city with no food and very limited healthy options for an instant lunch.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so here is a simple little kit that you can have in your car or your bag so you are always ready to go.

Anywhere salad kit:

  • Large Ziploc bag or a knapsack
  • Knife and fork
  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Olive oil
  • Sea salt or dulse

The solution here is to always have this kit with you in your car or in your backpack so you have the essential tools to create a salad on demand.  The key here is that you have an instant delicious dressing, since most of the dressings in a grocery store are filled with low-grade oils and sweeteners.

Prepared with this kit, when the time strikes, you can simply go into a food market, buy some prepackaged lettuce and fresh vegetables, and you are good to go.  I usually cut up an avocado, bell pepper, and tomatoes and throw them into the lettuce package with 1/2 lemon, a full orange, some olive oil and salt and then shake the whole bag until everything is mixed into a beautiful medley.

Salud!
